Only leases for an idefinite period may be terminated. If a lease is made for a definite period, a specific time or date, it may not be terminated unless it is specifically stated in the lease. Otherwise it will expire on the agreed date without a special notice of termination.

When a company becomes bankrupt the Salary Guarantee Trust guarantees; claims for  unpaid salaries for the past three months you worked for your employer; holiday pay and pension fund payments that passed their due date during the past 18 months before the company was declared bankrupt.

No you do not have to leave school. You must however register for full time studies and finish at least 75% of the curriculum each term/semester. If you live with your parents, a statement from them on financial support will suffice. You can also get a permit that gives you the right to work along with your studies.

If a tenant has paid a deposit to the landlord at the beginning of the lease period, the landlord must reimburse it at the expiry of the lease. He must not dispose of the money or make decuctions from it without the tenants' approval or if a court ruling has been delivered establishing compensatory liability on the part of the tenant, for example due to damage to the rented premises.

If you gave notice yourself you do not qualify for unemployment benefits until after 40 days. If you were laid off, you need verification from your employer that he terminated your employment. No, you can not. If you come from a country outside the EEA area you need a work permit and a residence permit to work in Iceland. Your employer applies for the work permit and you apply for the residence permit. You must be out of the country, when a first work/residence permit is issued.

Yes you can. What you need to do in order to stay on depends on where you come from. If you’re not an EEA citizen and have been married to an Icelandic citizen, you need to find work, or, if you are already working, you apply for a different type of residence permit and have your employer apply for a work permit for you.
